You already know what’s about to go down… 😏
#REALTALK: Organic social media posting =/= Advertising
Repeat after me: They 👏 are 👏 not 👏the 👏same.
Organic social posts & social media ads (and paid advertising in general) have two VERY different purposes. Let’s dive into those:
👉The primary purpose of organic social media posts is to increase brand awareness and engagement with your target audience. Sure, we might sell or pitch inside of these posts, but this type of social content is largely focused on nurturing our communities and providing value to our audiences.
👉On the other hand, paid social posts, or paid advertising, has a more direct marketing purpose, such as generating leads, driving website traffic, or making sales. Paid ads can be targeted to a specific audience, and can be used to promote a specific product or service.
They can also be used to test the effectiveness of different ad creative and targeting options.
There are analytics inside each social platform for organic content, but paid advertising is by far more robust in terms of measuring performance as compared to organic posts.
A typical rule of thumb here: Most businesses would benefit from an organic social media presence, but not nearly as many businesses necessarily need or would be worthwhile to invest in paid social advertising.
